missing the sky
salt lake city has it ups, but one of it's serious downs is the smog blanket that visits us almost all winter. a friend who works at the department of air quality sent me this lovely chart. Any time the brown circles go over the orange line, we are above the national standard and are not so slowly choking to death.

Do you weep as you watch this video? Those shots with the stars and milky way arching beyond the moving clouds are pretty fantastic. Though there is a scene where the effect makes it looks like a bush is taking a stroll along a ridge which freaked me out.
